Neiman Marcus celebrates the “Future Fashion”
Luxury retailer Neiman Marcus is celebrating its 100 years of providing its customers with only the best high-end fashion by releasing exclusive designs from some of the world’s most celebeated fashion houses. Fashion magazine Elle reports that “Neiman Marcus stores across the country will offer merchandise designed especially for their centennial (and available only at their stores) by Hermès, Marni, Giorgio Armani, Marchesa, Nina Ricci, Prada, and dozens of others. The items will bear an anniversary logo denoting their exclusive provenance — Prada’s pumps, for instance, have an embossed heel plate that reads “Prada for Neiman Marcus, 1907-2007″ — and have a silver butterfly tag to distinguish them from the store’s other merchandise.” Balenciaga, Yves Saint Laurent, Gucci, and Bottega Veneta will also join the festivities by offering some of their most popular styles. While the offical celebration doesn’t begin until October, some of the items are already on the shelves.
The store’s senior vice president and fashion director, Ken Downing, also invited 26 designers to imagine what’s to come in the decades ahead. The month-long exhibition will launch at the Dallas flagship in October and will present original sketches, looks and even outfits from designers such as Michael Kors, Vera Wang, Stella McCartney, Stefano Pilati for YSL, Olivier Theyskens for Nina Ricci and Carolina Herrera. This is a party celebration I might get used to.
