Narciso Rodriguez Picks Up Special Achievement in Fashion Award at ALMA Awards 2008
August 16th, Pasadena, California, ALMA - It was a big night for Narciso Rodriguez as the designer was recognized for his contribution to the fashion industry with a “Special Achievement in Fashion” Award at the American Latino Media Arts Awards on Saturday in Pasadena, California. The award was presented by actress Jessica Alba, who was dressed in a gown exclusively made by Rodriguez.
Having spoken to PEOPLE magazine, the designer commented on his winning night: “I was very proud. I felt very honored. It’s amazing to be the first to be given an award especially created for fashion especially by the Latin community.” And he definitely deserves it.
Known for his feminine, elegant, sharp and sexy designs, often holding an 60′s touch, Rodriguez has been on top of the in-demand list since his debut in 1997, before which he worked for the likes of Calvin Klein and Donna Karan. He holds the CFDA award for outstanding achievement as a fashion designer, as well as the Vogue/ VH1 Fashion Rocks for best designer.
Among his fans are Sarah Jessica Parker, Jennifer Garner, Julianna Margulies and Rachel Weisz .
Overall, ALMA was as big as ever, hosted by Eva Longoria Parker, with performances from Beyonce, Dashboard Confessional and Prince.
