Kate Moss self portrait drawn in lipstick sells
Kate Moss’s sketched self-portrait sold to a private buyer for over $60-thousand dollars. The lipstick artwork was reportedly drawn during her rocky relationship with Pete Doherty. The self-portrait also features blood stains belonging to her former flame.
The canvas artwork, painted in 2005-2006, features Moss smoking, sitting at a side angle and is inscribed by Doherty with the words “Who needs blood when you’ve got lipstick?” across the top of the painting.
Doherty sold it to an anonymous buyer after their split, and that buyer put it up for sale with auction house Lyon & Turnbull. It was close to hitting the reserve price.
Doherty also tried to sell a self-portrait signed in blood, but it didn’t sell at the auction.
