Thierry Mugler has just announced that Naomi Watts will be the new face of their classic scent Angel. And for her part, Watts explains, representing the brand was a natural choice. “It was an easy decision,” she said “I think to me, the Angel woman is someone who has many faces and is not afraid to show all facets of her personality. She’s both vulnerable and strong and flirtatious and for me, I guess working as an actor you have to play all those emotions all the time.”
In addition a glamorous print campaign that will launch this October, Watts has completed a commercial by Dreamgirls director Bill Condon, appropriately shot in the City of Angels. But as to whether she sees herself as angelic off the screen, the star reveals, “I think every woman likes to be thought of as angelic. Especially in the eyes of men. But I think that you shouldn’t be afraid of your strengths. And that’s exactly what I felt the first time I smelled the perfume. It’s gentle, its soft, it stays with you. It feels strong. To me, it’s not being afraid of showing who you are — embracing who you are.”
The news were announced at a press conference appropriately located in the City of Angels, at the Hotel on Rivington on May 5th 2008.

After the much acclaimed movie Juno, actress Ellen Page is back in the theatrical adaptation of Margaret Laurence novel The Stone Age.The movie is set in small-town Manawaka,Manitoba with actors from nearly every Canadian province (Ellen Burstyn, Christine Horne, Cole Hauser, Kevin Zegers, Samantha Weinstein) It might actually be impossible to get more Canadian than this.
The Stone Angel is the story of a 94 years-old woman, Hagar Shipley played by Ellen Burstyn, who has lived a very unconventional life. Struggling against being put in a nursing home , which she sees as a symbol of death, Hagar rebels and eventually finds herself in an abstract journey backward through her own life. From her marriage to a hard-working rancher (Cole Hauser), to her dysfunctional relationship with her own father,
Running just under two hours, the production gives a very real glance at the life in the Prairies, and features themes such as mortality and the sens of community. Based on the best selling novel by Margaret Laurence, the movie will come handy to any Grade 12 literary slackers, who don’t want to read the book anymore.
Except for her obsession with social standing, Hagar probably isn’t the sort of heroine for audiences accustomed to Sex and the City and Desperate Housewives, but is still remains a movie to be seen for the sake of our culture. The movie opened May 9th, 2008, and is now playing nationwide.

Where in the world is Osama Bin Laden? is the new documentary from the guy who brought us Supersize Me, four years ago. For his follow-up, Morgan Spurlock attempts something even more dangerous than eating Big Macs for a month: he decides to hunt down the globe’s most wanted terrorist, Osama Bin Laden. Why take on such a seemingly impossible mission, that both the CIA and FBI have failed to accomplish? To make the world safe for his soon-to-be-born child.
The film follows Spurlock through the Middle East in his search for the famed 9/11 mastermind. Countries such as Egypt, Morocco, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, and Pakistan are visited in hopes of finding Osama. For 1 hour and 33 minutes (the length of the movie), Spurlock hops from country to country, visits fundamentalist Muslim schools, mosques, army bases and even the local mall asking everyone along the way if they might know where he can find Osama.
Where in the World Is Osama Bin Laden? would have perhaps worked better if it had been made a few years ago, in the years when Bin Laden posed a real widely reported, universally recognized threat. Nowadays nobody seems to be as concerned as before.
What’s even more interesting about this film, is that rumors are flying that the filmmaker may have done what the United States government has failed to do for the last six years and found Osama bin Laden. Did he really find him? And how does it all end? That’s for you to check out when the movie premiere May 16th, 2008.
