Zara named world’s largest fashion retailer.

Zara finally widens the gap, literally, beating out its predecessor Gap as the worlds largest fashion retailer.

The fashion giant originating from its Spanish roots has propelled a massive expansion, both geographically and financially, which has aided in its conquering of the Gap’s sales and expansion. Zara does owe the Gap some credit for its number one spot as the previous giant has suffered huge financial losses over the course of the last four years making it easier to surpass and destroy, so to speak.

Zara, unlike the Gap, aims to target their demographic with affordable, up to the minute fashion, whereas the Gap’s line is often considered over-priced and underwhelming. I guess you could say that Zara has aimed at its target market and hit the bullseye.

With Zara’s recent and consistently growing popularity, we can only assume that it is likely to continue to widen this gap (one too many ‘widen the gap’ references?).
