Macy launches Beautiful Planet
Macy’s has just opened a greener store, ‘Beautiful Planet’. The 300-square ft. store opened at the Paramus Garden State Parkway, NJ.
This is the first time the department store will carry well-known natural and organic brands. The lines they carry include: Burt’s Bees, CARE by Stella McCartney Farmaesthetics, Nvey Eco, Organic Apoteke, Origins Organics, Terre d’Oc and Pangea Organics.
All the shops designs and elements were created using environmentally sustainable construction methods and materials. To stay true to their ‘green’ theme, the packaging and display fixtures are eco-friendly as well as the pamphlets, which are printed on recyclable paper.
Other environment-friendly materials used include: rapidly renewable bamboo, recycled post-industrial eco resin, recycled steel and aluminum, low VOC paint, rescued tree limbs and renewable coconut shell tiles. All of which have been used to create an eco-system in select Macy’s locations.
Senior Vice President of Cosmetics for Macy’s East reportedly commented on the new addition saying: “All of our choices have an effect on our planet and our bodies….We want to show our customers that beauty is a lot more than skin deep. More and more of our customers are looking for alternatives in their face and body care products. Macy’s ‘Beautiful Planet’ is addressing that need for the customer who is in tune with her body and the environment.”
