Karen Elson graces Vogue; is her first ever solo cover
The September issue of Vogue, out on newsstands, features Karen Elson in her first solo cover.
The British model, who now lives in New York, is also an aspiring singer. She is known for her eyebrows and red hair.
She was discovered at the age of 16 in her hometown near Manchester, England. Soon she was off to London to start her modeling career. After little success there, she then moved to Paris. She was then sent to Tokyo where she booked some jobs. She then tried Milan before moving to New York just shy of her 18th birthday. She was living with Eileen Ford at the time when she met Steven Meisel. That meeting changed everything. He shot her spread in Italian Vogue, and shortly after she shaved her eyebrows and chopped her hair into a blunt cut.
This change of appearance landed her on the cover of Italian Vogue and she has not stopped working since.
