Jennifer Marsh designs first gas station covered in fabric

After having discovered that there is more then 200,000 abandoned gas stations throughout America, artist and environmental activist Jennifer Marsh was inspired. Marsh decided that she could to bring attention to the world’s dependance on oil by turning one of the abandoned stations into a work of art. Aiming to make the world a more beautiful place, Marsh covered up an abandoned, deserted gas station in Syracuse NY with more then 3,000 pieces of fabric and turned it from waste to a large-scale installation art piece. With the help of 2,500 students from 29 states and artists from 15 countries around the world, Marsh was able to complete the decorative project using various types of fabric and approximately $28,000 of her own money.

The 50 year old gas station was enrolled in the Internatonal Fiber Collaborative’s fight “World Reclamation Art Project” aiming to make the world a more beautiful place and express concern about important issues, such as the oil crisis. Marsh aims to continue with her beautiful-world project looking to makeover abandoned stations world wide.
