Trend Watch: Vintage
Out with the old, in with the new. Not anymore!
Fashion, lately, has been reverting to older, classic, decade looks, anywhere from the fashion forward fifties, to more recently the eighties. Anytime this happens there is always a push for vintage fashion, achieving looks from the fifties is easier with a dress from the fifties. Not only are people frequenting the local antique clothiers, but are also looking to revamp an item or two to make it more unique and less dated.
Vintage no longer is the politically correct version of second hand. Many celebs are embracing the idea of used, classic, and timeless fashion that may or may not be previously worn, or ‘enjoyed’ as the movie rental industry would like us to believe. Vintage clothing is popping up all over, in small to large doses, and its about time. Why must we be forced to adhere to only todays latest trends? What if there was a particular look that you absolutely love isn’t sold in stores; unless you are a seamstress, the only way to do this is vintage.
Being unique, quirky and have an eye for fashion and purchasing gems from the past is no longer considered taboo, even if it doesn’t have a ‘label’ on the inside.
