Kate Moss for Interview (Sept.2008)
Catwalk queen, Kate Moss, does a Cat-like cover for the September issue of Interview. The mag, created by Andy Warhol and and John Wilcock in 1969 featured cutting-edge graphics and interviews of celebrities, and that has been done in this cover-shot with out a doubt.
The cover gradiates from a deep red at the top of the cover, to a mere black and white photo. I think this whole cover is so great. I love how the juxtaposition of the redness, which is probably used to show how society basically views Moss, evil–because of her widely acclaimed drug-use, and the black and white is most likely used as a sort of visual metaphor, nothing is black or white. It really makes you think and sort of understand Kate and her tumultuous hugely publicized life and try to get a mere inch of how hectic her life can be.
Kate is wearing an incredible half-mask that is covered in black and silver sequins. It doesn’t even fully look like a cat mask, until you see Kate’s exaggerated cat-eyes and the words “It’s new, pussycat!” written in a white script, almost translucent on the cover.
I think it’s great.
Take a look, tell me what you think
