Trend Watch: Scarves in Summer
Remember when you were little and your mother used to yell out the door as you were racing to catch the bus, “Make sure you wear your scarf, are you warm enough?” You could attach the scarf to my jacket, like my mitts were (yes I had ones attached to a string, sue me) and I still would shove it in my bag, and NOT wear it, no matter how cold out it was. NOW, its sweltering and what do I have draped around my neck, a scarf, previously reserved for those cold walks and snow storms.
Scarves are the latest and greatest accessory. One can be worn in so many ways and can change the look of an outfit in one quick swoop (over your shoulder). Whether they be of the starkly pashmina variety, or the trendy square scarf folded in half and paired with baret.
I don’t know where I would be without my massive collection of scarves, both of the winter and summer variety, but it appears that I am not the only one sporting the look this summer. Scarves are turning up everywhere and on everyone, both male or female. Now, when I leave my parents house my mother yells after me, “Lindsay, are you wearing that stupid scarf again, you are going to sweat. Don’t forget to put on sun screen and wear a hat.” Oh, how the times have changed, NOT!
