Tommy Hilfiger engagement called off
It was a very fashionable soirée Monday night, when Tommy Hilfiger celebrated his engagement to blonde beauty Dee Ocleppo in Manhattan.
The twosome were feted at the Neue Galerie, the Lauder family’s museum devoted to Austrian and German art. Leonard Lauder, chairman of the board of cosmetics giant Estée Lauder, toasted them in a room of canvases by Gustav Klimt.
Guests, including Gayle King (Oprah Winfrey’s B.F.F.), Russell Simmons, Anna Wintour and movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.
Tommy Hilfiger was supposed to marry Dee Ocleppo on the private island of Mustique this Friday, but the couple has split! The two were planning a private ceremony for family at Hilfiger’s Mustique home on the “auspicious” date of August 8, 2008. Dee had picked out a white Oscar de la Renta dress and everything. Hilfiger and Ocleppo were even planning to fête their nuptials with a black and white ball in New York at the Plaza in October for their 500 closest friends..
They met three years ago in St. Tropez. They were introducated through friends an dbecame friends for the first years. They initially bonded over shared family values.
She didn’t even know that he was the Tommy Hilfiger. “He was just introduced as, ‘My friend Tommy,” Dee said. “But I knew that he cared about his kids.”
