This seasons most prominent trend making its way up the cat walk is crochet, stars including Nicole Richie, Jessica Simpson and Anne Hathaway can be seen wearing anything from a crochet hat to a crochet poncho, right now crochet anything is hot. Crochet clothing became most prominent in 2005 with the formation of the boho chic and the hippy look and has since then kept a steady place with-in the fashion industry. Now in 2008 crochet has exploded into a major fashion must amongst the most influential celebrity trend setters.

The word crochet instantly produces the picture of your Nan’s old doilies and table clothes, bright colours and sickening patterns but this season crochet has been given a major makeover. From prom dresses to suits, handbags to swim suits crochet will have a home in almost every high street and designer store. Top designers including Missoni have already begun premiering their range of bright block colours and floral, in fabrics so delicate that you’d have to look through a magnifying glass to see the crochet. crochet has evolved and been transformed into the most stylish of fabrics to be seen in this season.

So is crochet a do or a major don’t ? given that it has had a major style overhaul, flatters all body shapes and sizes and can be worn in any season, i say a its a definite do. if wearing a crochet prom dress or suit seems a little daunting then stick with a simple crochet scarf or hat to compliment any outfit this winter, keeping you warm and stylish.
