Event: CHANEL Mobile Art

New York’s Central Park will be the next stop for Karl Lagerfeld’s 2,297 square meter Contemporary Art Container, created by Zaha Hadid.

According to Lagerfeld, he specifically selected Hadid, a Pritzker Prize winning architect because, “The value of her designs is similar to that of great poetry.

From October 20 to November 9, 2008, this free exhibit (yes, you read that correctly) will be around for your viewing pleasure. The exhibit will explore the many facets of CHANEL’s iconic quilted bag, as interpreted by 20 international contemporary artists, including, David Livinthal, Soju Tao, Sophie Calle, and Yoko Ono.

The exhibit promises to be a smashing hit, and it’s coming to a park near you for a mere $400 000 usage fee - not to be paid by you, of course. It’s free, remember?
