Since announcing their engagement back in March 2007, Salma Hayek and her French billionaire (what else) welcomed a daughter, Valentina Paloma, and seemed to be living in relative bliss. There’s a lot of speculation as to why the decision was made to call off their engagement, the only solid fact available is that it happened.

Hayek is, of course, the buxom actress who is also an executive producer on ABC’s “Ugly Betty.” François-Henri Pinault, on the other hand, is a classic case of how a weird looking guy with money can get a really hot woman. No, but seriously, he’s the CEO of PPR SA, which owns high-end labels such as Gucci, Balenciaga, and Yves Saint Laurent, among others. Condolences for Salma and François-Henri, but good news for my boyfriend and all of yours, who I’m sure are all very interested in the prospect of Salma being a free woman again (grumble grumble).

The split has been confirmed by publicist Cari Ross, “We are sad to announce the engagement of Salma Hayek and Francois-Henri Pinault has been cancelled. There will be no further comment.”
