The fact that it was grossly overpriced and designed by a virtual nobody didn’t deter the fashion zombies, but when said nobody failed to show up to whore out her goods, that’s when all hell broke loose. Sounds like the premise of a truly awful George A. Romero movie, but it’s only trend-setting L.A. boutique Kitson freshly dropping Lauren Conrad’s fashion line, due to what they nicely called “lackluster sales.” Don’t get it wrong, there was a time – I like to call these ‘dark times’ – when her clothes could barely be contained on the racks. However, much like the appeal for Conrad herself, the novelty wore off. Fraser Ross, the owner of Kitson, tried futilely to get the pseudo-celebrity to make an in-store appearance to hopefully bring sales back to life, but I guess Conrad was too busy shooting daggers at Heidi Montag or something.

“Sales were lackluster,” Ross says. “Initially it was great. They need to realize it’s no different than selling your album, your TV shows, your movies. You have to keep promoting it.”

Fake celebrities these days are getting lazier and lazier. It’s become such a chore to visit a boutique for an hour and say, “buy this!” You mean, there’s a bit of work involved? Gosh, being a reality “star” is hard!
