Hand-Held Luxury From Armani
Written word, or written luxury?
Italian pen maker Tibaldi and designer Giorgio Armani have collaborated to create a limited-edition collection of fine writing instruments.
The collection is called Giorgio Armani Pens, and will be available in rollerball, ballpoint and traditional fountain models. Armani has described the collection as, “a style which is calculated and knowing, designed with a deliberate recovery of a formal elegance drawn from the past but projected into the present.”
The first series, called the Regal collection, will be released this month, and can be yours for approximately $3,114. This collection will be limited to 199 numbered pieces, and according to Armani, the pens are well worth their price, as “A handwritten note is, today more than ever, a sign of etiquette, elegance and sophistication, and to carry an iconic pen is therefore a symbol of character and style.”
Each pen is detailed with Giorgio Armani’s “GA” initials on the cap as well as the rhodium-and-ruthenium-plated solid 18-karat gold nib. The pens are also hand-turned by skilled artisans to create a one-of-a-kind rippled effect onto the pen barrels and nine layers of translucent enamel are also applied by hand. The pens will be available worldwide in Giorgio Armani boutiques and at Tibaldi authorized dealers.
Just don’t leave it on the subway when you’re doing your daily crossword puzzle.
