Esquire’s 21st Century Issue: Marc Jacobs One of 75 Most Influential People
In Esquire’s upcoming 75th anniversary issue, they celebrate by making a list of the 75 most influential people of the 21st century. Movie stars like George Clooney, businessmen such as Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, as well as fashion designers and athletes are all mentioned. Marc Jacobs is one of these people.
At 24, Jacobs became the youngest designer to receive the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s Perry Ellis Award for New Fashion Talent. As Louis Vuitton’s artistic director, he’s dramatically increased the label’s sales, and he’s considered the reason art and fashion are so closely entwined. Just a glance at Marc Jacob’s resume makes it obvious how much influence he’s had in the fashion world.
For the issue, artist Schatz created a 10-by-10-foot see through cube. In this space the subjects can do whatever they want for an hour, with 24 cameras filming their every move. The cameras send the images to different computers, and then the images are randomly linked into a collage. The final result is what readers will see in the issue.
For his hour, Jacobs chose to practice yoga with his trainer, the video of which can be seen here. The issue will be on newsstands in October.
