Richie Rich: Balenciaga Copy Cat?
It’s been said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but this is just a little ridiculous.
Heatherette designer Richie Rich’s new shoe collection, Rox and Riley has recently debuted to mixed reviews. While Rich manages to keep up with the crazy style of Heatherette, he fails to capture any originality.
The line, named after Rich’s two dogs, makes embarrassingly obvious “references” to Balenciaga’s Spring/Summer 2008 collection, as well as to the legendary Andy Warhol. Aside from a difference in colour choice, these funky heels look like a total knock-off.
The original Balenciaga heels have already been seen on celebrities like Lindsay Lohan, and are quite frankly more aesthetically pleasing than Rich’s version.
It just goes to show that as far as fashion is concerned, although imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery, it isn’t necessarily the most flattering option.
