Musician and indie movie star Zooey Deschanel just got a brand new gig. Typically known for her quirky character traits, neurotic insights, intelligent yet off the cuff ramblings and sharp wit in obscure yet riveting indie films, she stars in M. Night Shyamalan’s new film The Happening. A big role for a small indie girl.

Though the film will test Deschanel’s star potential in a lead role, she has already mastered her press tour attire that comes with big budget films. Featured on Instyle.com’s Look of the Day, Deschanel looked lovely when she went to New York to talk with David Letterman.

“You look nice, you look summery, you look beautiful, you look like you are going to some sort of a function. Are you going to a function?” asked David Letterman last night to Zooey. Without missing a beat Zooey replied, “This function.” Zooey looked stunning in a Monique Lhuiller yellow chiffon dress and pumps.
