They did the $12,000 bike, but Chanel’s newest foray into sporting gear is even more random. The fashion house’s resident genius, Karl Lagerfeld, has topped even himself with the Chanel fly-fishing rod, priced at a staggering £9,170 (approximately $18,000). Just in time for Father’s Day for those of you stumped for gift ideas!

As it should for that price, the fishing rod comes with a set of monochrome Chanel flies and a quilted black leather box for safekeeping. Most of you are wondering why Chanel is even bothering to focus on this distinctly un-fabulous hobby. The fly-fishing rod does possess some special history: Coco herself took a liking to the sport when she was dating fishing enthusiast, the Duke of Westminster. She became so good at it, that she began catching more fish than him on their outtings.

Although it has made fishing a sliver more interesting, I doubt any real anglers would pick up this lavish pole. I would think only hardcore Chanel collectors would fall for this item, hook, line, and sinker.
