Stuart Weitzman’s $2 Million Tanzanite Sandals

Once again, our voracious appetite for outrageous footwear has been appeased. Not that us common folk could ever own such a pair anyway, but look for these on the feet of a Hilton or a Beckham, and live vicariously.
Running hot on the… heels of Berardi’s ‘heel-less’ sandals, Stuart Weitzman announced his vision of footwear overkill, the tanzanite sandals, worth an estimated $2 million. $2 million! That’s a penthouse apartment on your feet! The strappy silver heels will have no less than 28 carats of diamonds, and 185 carats of tanzanite, a stunning bluish-purple variant of ziosite. Oval-cut gems will be mounted on the ankle strap with a pear-shaped gem dangling from it, and a thin strap of diamonds will run across the toes. Definitely an indulgement for your feet!
Though they are breathtaking and owning a pair would certainly be worth a lot of bragging rights, be careful with what comes with the territory. Tanzanite is not particularly durable, and don’t come crying to anybody when you get mugged in an alley in broad daylight for your heels, à la Carrie Bradshaw for her Manolos. Besides, something tells me these babies aren’t very comfortable. I know I wouldn’t feel comfortable knowing I had the equivalent of a new condo, new convertible, and a new wardrobe on my feet.
