Cheap and chic at Target
As part of their very successful program “Design for All” Target is adding three new cosmetic lines. More affordable versions of designer lines by Jemma Kidd, Pixi Cosmetics[Petra Strand] and Napoleon Perdis will be made available. Allan Mottus was quoted, “Target is not doing so well in mass beauty.” Aside from Sonia Kashuk, a brand they have a financial relationship with, the cosmetics department is not properly maintained. Customers cannot compare because the supplies are low.
The designers say they have changed their products to appeal to the masses, but they have remained similar to the designer products. Kidd’s line will range from $14 to $36. Perdis’ line will consist of 85 products packaged in white with the phrase “What’s in it for me?”. Strand’s will have a “good for your skin” angle and will be priced from $12 to $39.
