Puma to celebrate 60th anniversary with a nod to Tommie Smith
Puma, the German-based multinational athletic apparel giant, will be marking their 60th anniversary with an homage to athlete/activist Tommie Smith, who with teammate John Carlos raised a black-gloved fist known as the “silent gesture” to protest racism at the 1968 Olympic Games. The company will unveil a collection that will feature the “silent gesture” as graphics imprinted on the clothes and shoes on June 26th in Paris. Smith is expected to attend the star studded event with music provided by old school hip hop icons De La Soul.
