Since Kanye West wore them in his Stronger music video, “shutter shades” have exploded into mainstream fashion, and are a definite must-have for this summer.

These avant-garde, blast-from-the-80’s sunglasses worn by West were a custom pair of louvered blind shaded sunglasses by French designer, Alain Mikli. I say avant-garde, because it’s not every day you see someone walking around with what appears to be window blind-esque eyewear – or at least, it wasn’t.

The hot “shutter shades” are also featured in the album artwork for West’s latest album, Graduation, by Takashi Murakami. The only problem is, as hot as they are, not everyone can afford a pair of high-end, handmade designer sunglasses.
