The American comedy-drama Ugly Betty, a highly recognized television-series, stars America Ferrera in the main role as Betty, along with Eric Mabius, Judith Light, Rebecca Romijn and Venessa Williams. The show chronicles the life of an unglamorous simpleton (Ferrera) and her accident-prone approaches to everyday life situations. Ironically, she lands a job working for a stylish New York fashion magazine called Mode. The series has also won a Golden Globe, a Peabody and an Emmy Award.

Could this hit television show also be highly recognized on the stage? Rumors have been spreading of adapting the hit series into a Broadway-style musical. Michael Urie, a producer, director and an actor who plays the character of Marc St. James on the show was recently heard discussing future plans for the musical on a British radio station. He thinks it would be a superb idea and that the main cast should be incorporated…but for now the idea remains top secret.
