Where in the world is Osama Bin Laden? is the new documentary from the guy who brought us Supersize Me, four years ago. For his follow-up, Morgan Spurlock attempts something even more dangerous than eating Big Macs for a month: he decides to hunt down the globe’s most wanted terrorist, Osama Bin Laden. Why take on such a seemingly impossible mission, that both the CIA and FBI have failed to accomplish? To make the world safe for his soon-to-be-born child.
The film follows Spurlock through the Middle East in his search for the famed 9/11 mastermind. Countries such as Egypt, Morocco, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, and Pakistan are visited in hopes of finding Osama. For 1 hour and 33 minutes (the length of the movie), Spurlock hops from country to country, visits fundamentalist Muslim schools, mosques, army bases and even the local mall asking everyone along the way if they might know where he can find Osama.
Where in the World Is Osama Bin Laden? would have perhaps worked better if it had been made a few years ago, in the years when Bin Laden posed a real widely reported, universally recognized threat. Nowadays nobody seems to be as concerned as before.
What’s even more interesting about this film, is that rumors are flying that the filmmaker may have done what the United States government has failed to do for the last six years and found Osama bin Laden. Did he really find him? And how does it all end? That’s for you to check out when the movie premiere May 16th, 2008.
