The Recording Academy to launch the Grammy Brand

These days celebrities are not the only ones launching their own clothing line: the Recording Academy recently announced the launch of their own high-end line of men’s and women’s apparel called the Grammy Brand. The collection aims to raise funds for the Grammy Foundation and MusiCares and is designed to make a year-round fashion statement. “Music and fashion have always gone hand-in-hand as illustrated year after year on our red carpet at the GRAMMY Awards. GRAMMY Brand allows us to extend our relationship with consumers beyond the show and celebrate the profound and personal relationship we all have with music year-round,” reported Evan Greene, Marketing Officer for The Recording Academy.
The collection will include embroidered shirts, leather jackets, organic t-shirts, blazers, leather handbags as well as jewelry and eyewear. The clothes will be available at retail in October at luxury boutiques across the United States and price will range from $50 for a t-shirt, to $1,200 for a leather jacket, and can go as high as $7,000 for diamond embedded eyewear.
From the few pictures, available online, the Grammy Awards inspired clothes don’t look very glamorous to me. What do you think?

Way too over-priced for what it is!
