Forbes Traveler has recently compiled a list of the most expensive desserts in the world. The Fortress Aquamarine, served at the Fortress restaurant in Sri Lanka, is topping the list. Inspired by another gem-studded treat, the Bombay Sapphire Martini, the dessert consists of an 80-carat aquamarine gem that sits on a sliver of chocolate shaped to look like the resort’s logo. For a mere $14,500 (not including the handmade glass utensils), diners can keep the gemstone after finishing their treat. Since its March introduction, not even a single piece has been sold.
The Brownie Extraordinaire served at The Dessert Experience in Atlantic City (NJ), the world’s most expensive sundae from Serendipity in New York City and the Sultan’s Golden Cake made at the Ciragan Palace Kempinski (Istanbul) are the following three most expensive desserts and are priced at $1,000 each. Quite inexpensive compared to the Fortress Aquamarine!
The Dome’s Truffle Ice (Mezzaluna, Bankok), the Madeleine Truffle (Knipschildt Chocolatier, Connecticut), “Entre” (Pierre Hermé Patisserie, Paris), the King-size Imperial Torte (Hotel Imperial, Vienna), the Valrhona Chocolate Sphere (Burj Al Arab Hotel, Dubai) and the Warm Golden Plum Soufflé (The Waterside Inn, England) are the following desserts featured in Forbes Traveler list.
How much are you willing to spend for a sweet treat?
