Smell my celebrity
Lately it seems that celebrities all around the globe are launching their own fragrances.
First, there is singer and fashion designer Gwen Stefani with “L”, her latest addition to her L.A.M.B. empire. Her debut fragrance is described as having top notes of sparkling green freshness, leafy water hyacinth, white freesia, fresh pear and violet leaves. The ruby-lipped singer explains the name of her fragrance as being the first letter in her fashion line L.A.M.B. as well as the first letter for love. Gwen Stefani’s “L” is available in 50ml(1.7oz) and 100ml(3.4oz) for a retail price of $55 and $70 respectively. The fragrance is exclusive to Nordstrom until September, when it will go into wider distribution. But this is just the beginning because a range of body products is also expected to follow, and Stefani is reportedly working on five other fragrances. Watch the commercial here.

Actress Sarah Jessica Parker, better known for her role in Sex and the City, unveiled her latest edition to her already exisitng perfume line yesterday at Macy’s in New York City. The fragrance is a follow up to Lovely, which launched in Fall 2005. I really like the commercial because it’s like a mini Sex and the City episode. Shot at the Place Vendome in Paris, the ad shows the actress smashing a shop window with her stiletto to get at her fragrance. She is quickly thrown in jail, and Sarah Jessica begs, in French, for a little spritz of her scent. Sarah..hello? Shouldn’t you covet your beautiful couture Christian Dior dress instead? The star’s second fragrane is supposed to be ultra feminine and seductive.The smell is a weird mix of chocolate, magnolia, and amber musks and retails for $52 (50ml, 1.7oz)and $68 (100 ml, 3.4 oz). Songbird Mariah Carey is one of the other stars that launched her own signature fragrance, in collaboration with Elizabeth Arden. Naturally, she named it “M” by Mariah Carey. Her ads show her half-submerged in water under what looks like a sunset. Like J.Lo and Kimora Lee Simmons before, Mariah decided to pose naked for her new fragrance. “M” combines the aromas of the Tahitian Tiare flower, see breeze and marshmallow. Before paying to smell like marshmallows, I strongly suggest that you visite her official site, because you can receive a free sample. After receiving the sample myself, I find the scent way too strong and intense. “M” will hit selected department stores in mid-September, and price will range from $39.50 to $62.50.
