Prada: the second time around


PradaMiuccia Prada is back and ready to make her newest perfume the hottest scent this season. Infusion d’iris contains Florentine iris pallida flowers, one of perfumery’s most valuable ingredients. It also includes notes of mandarin, orange blossom, iris, incense, benzoin and cedar. The new fragrance was developed by perfumer Daniela Andrier, who also worked on Prada Man, and describes the scent to be fresh, clean, sophisticated and elegant. “This perfume does not mimic any current trends in perfumery,” Andrier noted. “It does not follow any olfactory or descriptive stereotypes of what a woman should smell like, but rather expresses itself through its contrast between a great freshness and apparent lightness and a type of tender veil, sensual and strong, that envelops the body and the clothing of the woman who wears it.”


The September launch of Infusion d’Iris may be the debut of the house’s second women’s scent, but it will be the first fragrance to feature Prada’s original 94-year-old logo. The vintage looking bottle was designed by Miuccia herself an the Prada’s signature logo is the original one from 1913. Prada is surely reinventing perfumery by creating a fragrance of yesterday and tomorrow.

Prada Infusion D’Iris will be available in 50, 100 or 200 ml Eau de Parfum spray; 400 or 750 ml splash with 30 ml flask and funnel and in a variety of bath and home fragrance products such as linen water and candle. The perfume is expected to be such a best-sellers that pre-orders are already being taken at Marcus Neiman. So if you can’t afford the $3,000 bags from the fall 2007 Prada collection, don’t worry you can still own some Prada products…
